Meet Mike Phalin, founder of Southern Strategies.

Mike Phalin spent more than two decades helping build and lead a regional telecommunications business. His work involved growing customer relationships, leading sales teams and navigating the practical demands of business growth and change.

He founded Southern Strategies in 2024 to bring that operating perspective to conversations with business owners, executives, individuals, families and institutions. Based in Harrisburg, Illinois, Mike is a Southern Illinois University graduate and U.S. Army veteran.

Today, Southern Strategies focuses on three core offerings: Liquidity & Legacy Strategies, Employee Wellness Programs and Tax Strategies. The starting point is your objective: what needs to work differently, why it matters and what constraints any approach must respect.

Mike works directly with clients and coordinates specialized resources when the situation calls for them. Your existing legal, tax, insurance and financial advisors remain important to evaluating requirements, tradeoffs and potential fit. The goal is a clear next step grounded in facts, not pressure to move forward.
